ITHACA, N.Y. — Ithaca police have made an arrest in an armed robbery that took place last week in the city of Ithaca.

According to a press release by Inv. Sgt. Michael Meskill with the Ithaca Police Department, 18-year-old Jacob D. Chaires was charged with second-degree robbery, a felony, after an incident that occurred on the 500 block of East Buffalo Street.

Meskill said that police responded to the scene around 11 p.m., where an armed robbery had been reported. According to Meskill, the suspect allegedly held a victim at gunpoint and “money was forcibly taken from him.”

Police spotted Chaires on Monday afternoon and detained him for an interview. Subsequently, Chaires was arrested and charged in the robbery incident.

Chaires was remanded to the Tompkins County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bond by Judge Seth Peacock.
