    • New York state Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo, a Democrat representing the 123rd District, has announced that she will not run for reelection in 2026, marking the end of her tenure in the state Legislature’s lower chamber, which began in 2005.
    • Lupardo’s district includes the city of Binghamton and the towns of Vestal and Union, and she has had the opportunity to serve the community in various capacities, including as chair of the Assembly Agriculture Committee since 2019.
    • Prior to her current role as chair of the Assembly Agriculture Committee, Lupardo has also served as chair of the Committee on Aging and chair of the Committee on Children and Families, demonstrating her commitment to advancing various causes and issues in the community.
    • Originally from Staten Island, Lupardo moved to the Southern Tier in the 1970s to attend graduate school and has since become an integral part of the community, having also served on the Broome County Legislature from 1999 to 2000.
    • According to Lupardo, serving in the Assembly has been an incredible honor, but she feels that the time has come for a new chapter in her life, and after her current term is over, she will leave the Assembly to remain active in the community and focus on the causes and issues she has worked to advance.
    • Lupardo expressed her appreciation for the opportunity to live and work in the Southern Tier, which she considers a wonderful place, and she looks forward to joining with others in a new capacity to continue working to make the community even better.
