SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Two people were shot Sunday afternoon in separate incidents on Syracuse’s Westside that occurred within blocks of each other, police said.
Officers responded around 1:20 p.m. to the intersection of South Geddes and West Fayette streets, where a 21-year-old man was found with gunshot wounds to the chest and hip, Syracuse police said. He was taken to Upstate University Hospital and was listed in stable condition.
About 30 minutes later, police were alerted to a second shooting in the 100 block of Richmond Avenue, about five blocks away. A 16-year-old boy was shot in the left leg and taken to the hospital, where he is expected to survive, said Sgt. Tom Blake, a police spokesperson.
Investigators found a sedan struck by gunfire at the Richmond Avenue scene, Blake said. Police do not believe the shootings are connected.
No arrests have been announced. Anyone with information is asked to contact Syracuse police.
