WATERTOWN, N.Y. — The city of Watertown is considering the establishment of its first marijuana dispensary, proposed for the Eastern Boulevard Plaza. Kimberly Parker of Yesca, LLC, has submitted a request for a special use permit to operate the dispensary, which could become the first of its kind in the area.
According to the Watertown Planning Committee’s agenda, the application was filed just over a week ago. City planning officials have indicated that the plaza is zoned for commercial use, aligning with city guidelines that permit dispensaries in commercial districts.
A public hearing to discuss the application is scheduled for January 6, during which commission members are expected to cast their votes on the request. This development marks a significant step in the city’s efforts to expand local business opportunities in wake of New York state’s legalization of recreational marijuana.
