North Syracuse, N.Y. – Eight teenagers, aged 15 to 17, were arrested early Tuesday morning after a series of smash-and-grab burglaries targeting multiple businesses in the northern suburbs of Syracuse. The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office reported that the group used three stolen vehicles to commit the crimes around 2:30 a.m.

The businesses affected included Big Mama’s Cheesecake, Amore Pizza, and Namaste India Groceries, among others, all located along Old Liverpool Road and North Main Street. Many of the establishments suffered extensive damage from forced entry, with cash registers and money reported stolen.

Authorities recovered two of the stolen vehicles and two handguns in the aftermath of the incidents. The suspects were charged with various offenses, including criminal possession of a weapon and burglary. “More charges are pending as deputies are still getting reports of other burglaries just being discovered by business owners,” stated a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office.

Deputies suspect that the teens may be linked to additional burglaries across Syracuse and the wider Onondaga County area. Local officials are investigating the possibility of dozens of similar crimes being connected to this group.

As the investigation continues, law enforcement is urging business owners to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
